About & Legend
Super effective ½Not very effective 0No effect
There are 18 types and 324 interactions. Distribution: 51 super-effective, 61 not-very-effective, 8 immunities, 204 neutral.

Every Pokémon and move has a type. Types come with strengths and weaknesses on both offense and defense. In battle, using a move with a type advantage deals extra damage; using one at a disadvantage deals less.

  • Type advantage: a single advantage deals damage (e.g., Water → Ground). Two advantages stack to . You’ll see “It’s super effective!”.
  • Type disadvantage: a single disadvantage deals ½× damage; two stack to ¼×. You’ll see “It’s not very effective…”.
  • Immunity: some type matchups do damage (no effect).
  • STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus): if a Pokémon uses a move that matches its own type, the move gets a 1.5× boost. This multiplies with matchups—e.g., a Water-type using a Water move vs Ground/Rock: 2× × 2× × 1.5× = 6×.

The grid below shows every matchup: attackers run down the left (↓) and defenders across the top (→). Click any type to see its moves and Pokémon.
